Your back is sore. Your legs are starting to go numb, and your neck definitely has a kink in it. After spending hours driving in the car, your body is screaming at you for help.
Oh wait. This was actually me just a couple of weeks ago.
Hi! I’m Lynneah - owner of Abundant Life Wellness, LLC. My family and I recently relocated back to our hometown in south central, Pennsylvania after spending the past year as Georgia peaches. The long drive home was brutal but definitely worth it.
If you’ve ever been able to relate to the scenario I’ve just described, you’re in the right place. You better believe the first thing I did when we made it home was schedule myself a massage. Whether you spend a lot of time in a car, work a desk job, stand on your feet all day, chase little ones around, you name it, you too can benefit from bodywork and massage therapy.
Bodywork (a broad term that encompasses a variety of techniques like massage therapy and is designed to manipulate the soft tissues of the body) has numerous health benefits, and our mission at Abundant Life Wellness, LLC is to make sure you reap the rewards. Our services are tailored to each client’s unique goals and needs. You can learn more about our offerings here.
You may be wondering, how can bodywork actually help me, or is the investment really worth it? We’ve compiled our top 3 reasons why bodywork can support and enhance your wellbeing.
Bodywork is a research-backed, alternative medicine designed to improve your physical health.
Our most commonly sought after reason for receiving bodywork/massage therapy is pain relief. Perhaps you’ve suffered a recent injury and are looking to improve your recovery time. Maybe you’ve dealt with chronic pain issues and have been searching for relief for years. You might even be hoping to avoid pharmaceutical interventions when possible. Regardless of your reason, bodywork has been shown to reduce swelling and inflammation, decrease muscle soreness, improve flexibility, and more.
Did you also know that bodywork offers physical benefits beyond what you can feel? Massage and other bodywork techniques like manual lymphatic drainage can help improve circulation, lower blood pressure, boost your immune system, promote better sleep habits, and the list goes on. We find that results are best achieved when we work together with your healthcare provider to meet your goals.
The mental health benefits are as numerous as the physical.
We’ve all heard of the “fight or flight” response, right? It’s that state of being that gets our adrenaline pumping and causes stress in our bodies. While vital at times to keep us safe, most of us spend a little too much time in this state. We’re plagued by the stressors of daily life and the anxieties that keep us up at night. Luckily, bodywork has proven mental health benefits to combat these issues.
Specifically, bodywork can increase hormones such as endorphins, oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine which translates to reduced anxiety and depression, boosted mood, and lowered stress levels. By activating our “rest and digest” state (a.k.a. the opposite of fight or flight), massage therapy and similar techniques give our bodies a chance to unwind and promote healing.
You aren’t just paying for a service - you’re investing in YOU.
How much time per day do you spend thinking of others? You likely have family to care for, friends to check in on, jobs that require service to customers. Many also spend what little free time they have helping strangers and those in need. These are all beautiful and admirable ways we help make this world a bit better for generations to come, but it’s important not to forget…
You can’t pour from an empty cup.
Imagine spending just a fraction of the time you give to others giving to yourself. Imagine what it would be like to help others feeling a little more rejuvenated yourself. Better yet, imagine what it would feel like to allow your body and mind to rest simply because that’s your right as a human being. By taking care of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally, you are investing in your long-term health and wellbeing.
At Abundant Life Wellness, LLC we believe you deserve a break. We are here to help provide you a safe and nurturing environment to heal, experience restoration, and give back to YOU.
